American Legion Post 239 Heyward Fields, Inc.
Please say a prayer for those who are unable, missing, or still in the fight...

Our mission; The youth of Lumpkin County, Georgia. Post 239 has sponsored many, many, programs over the years. We assist schools and families to ensure children have the bare essentials to sustain life. Yes, sustain life! A very good example "Grandparents raising Grandchildren." The number of families raising their children's children in Lumpkin County is alarming. The American Legion stepped forward on this issue and took it a step further, "Snacks in School." It was brought to the attention of the American Legion that many of the students were not eating during the normal school day, too embaressed, or filled with too much pride to ask for financial aide, some students simply "Went without." Now all students have the oppurtunity to have snacks during a typical day of studies without embarrasment and concentrate on their work, not that growling belly. Post 239 strongly believes that "The youth of Lumpkin County is our future!"
